Sabine Soosten Church.
Hello and welcome!
About me
I am Sabine and I am a qualified counsellor and mindfulness practitioner.
I use the person-centred approach to counselling which means that I always value and affirm the experience of the client, with an empathetic, non-judgmental and accepting attitude.
My main qualification is a postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, University of Wrexham.
I am working within the ethical guidelines of the BACP (the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I am registered with the Mindfulness Teachers Association.
My professional interest lies in working with adults diagnosed with ADHD and autism.
I have extensive experience working with relationship and family issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement.
How do I work?
I believe that you know yourself better than anyone else and that you have the inner resources to deal with your difficulties. I see the counselling process as a collaboration between us with you taking the lead regarding content and direction of the sessions.
Therefore, I will not tell you what to do but will provide support and companionship which is based on my extensive training and experience working with a wide range of issues and with people who may simply feel down or as if they have ‘lost their way’.
I work within professional and ethical boundaries and provide a safe, therapeutic space for you to work through whatever you wish, no matter what you choose to reveal, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity or spirituality.
I have a keen interest in connecting people with nature as there is significant evidence that this benefits our mental well-being.
The confinements of a counselling room does not suit every client. Therefore, I am happy to offer walk-and-talk therapy. Please let me know if this is something you would prefer.
As an experienced qualified mindfulness teacher and practicing mindfulness and meditation myself, I am happy to explore this with you, if we both feel that this might enhance your therapy.
My sessions take place online or face-to-face in our counselling room at the Well Street Clinic in Ruthin.
What to expect in the first session?
I understand that choosing to start therapy can be very daunting and I am happy to offer the first session as a ‘trial’ to see if we can work together. There is no obligation to commit to further sessions as I feel it is important to give you the freedom of choice to work with someone who you feel comfortable with.
In the first session we will discuss the boundaries of the counselling relationship and any concerns or issues you may have. I will ask you for your GP’s name and contact details in case of an emergency.
At the end of the session you can choose whether or not you wish to continue your sessions with me.
My fees
First 30-minute ‘trial’ session - £30
Consecutive sessions are 60 minutes - £60 per session
Concessions are available – Please ask!
